Punjab Announce schools Holidays due to heatwave for seven days – In response to an imminent heatwave, the Punjab government has made the decision to temporarily shut down both public and private schools for a duration of seven days, starting from May 25 to May 31. This measure, aimed at safeguarding the well-being of students, comes amidst rising concerns over escalating temperatures. However, it’s worth noting that schools retain the option to proceed with scheduled exams, albeit with stringent precautionary measures in place. With the mercury expected to soar, this proactive step underscores the government’s commitment to prioritizing the safety and health of the province’s young learners.

In response to mounting pressure from private schools and considering the escalating heatwave conditions, the Punjab government has extended school closures by an additional seven days. Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar conveyed this decision via a post on X, sharing a notification confirming the closure of all public and private schools from May 25 to May 31. “Taking into account parental concerns and the severity of the weather, we have opted to implement these holidays starting this week,” stated the education minister.
He emphasized that private institutions holding examinations would be granted conditional permission to remain open, emphasizing the ministry’s paramount objective of shielding students from the adverse impacts of the weather. Earlier on May 17, the Punjab government had announced the annual summer break for both public and private schools across the province, slated to run from June 1 to August 14.
